27 Hours with ToupTek AAF Auto-Focusing
Manual focusing is the single biggest bottleneck in modern astrophotography. A pin-point star profile at dusk will naturally drift out of focus by midnight due to subtle temperature drops and thermal contraction. An electronic focuser converts a tedious, error-prone manual chore into a seamless, automated workflow.
Eliminate hand-induced micro-vibrations that disrupt your framing and waste precious dark-sky exposure time.
Automatically compensate for ambient temperature changes throughout the night, locking in razor-sharp star profiles from your first frame to your last.
Enable seamless auto-focusing after filter changes, meridian flips, or routine time intervals—allowing your rig to shoot flawlessly while you sleep.
Engineered for precision, thermal stability, and seamless system integration, ToupTek AAF provides reliable automated focus control throughout long-exposure imaging sessions.
Compact, all-in-one hardware and software design delivering rock-solid stability and instant setup out of the box.

1. Check the packing list, and assemble the specially shaped connecting plate (horizontal installation) or the rectangular connecting plate (vertical installation) using M3 screws.
2. Remove the focusing knob from the telescope.
3. Select a flexible coupler of the appropriate size and attach it to the telescope's focuser shaft. Insert the AAF motor shaft into the coupler and secure it with the M4 screws.
4. Attach the specially shaped connecting plate (for horizontal installation) or the rectangular connecting plate (for vertical installation) to the focuser. Secure the plate to the AAF using M4 screws, and check that the assembly is securely mounted.
5. Connect the USB cable. Connect the temperature probe and hand controller as needed.

No. It operates on 5V power via a single USB-C cable, plugging directly into your mount, mini-PC, or USB hub without extra power bricks.
The high-torque stepper motor supports imaging trains up to 5 kg (11 lbs) without slippage, even when pointing straight up at the zenith.
Not at all. It takes just minutes using included screws—simply swap the original coarse knob for the coupler and bracket with zero permanent modifications to your telescope.
Yes. It functions as an absolute focuser and saves its exact step position, so you don't need to recalibrate your starting point every night.
An onboard thermal sensor feeds ambient data to your capture software, automatically executing micro-step adjustments as temperatures drop during the night.
