GS-100AR/AC High-Precision Guide Scope
The GS-100AR/AC is a compact yet powerful high-precision guide scope engineered for astrophotographers who demand portability, optical precision, and system flexibility. Featuring an upgraded 4-element PAPO apochromatic optical design, precision CNC-machined aluminum construction, and dual focuser options, the GS-100 is built for guiding, entry-level wide-field deep-sky photography, and visual observation.
6 Advantages
- 4-Element PAPO Optical Design: ED Low-Dispersion Glass for Pure, Sharp Stars
- 1-Inch Flat Field Imaging: 100mm Focal Length · 25mm Aperture · f/4 Fast Focal Ratio
- Advanced Anti-Reflection Coating: Broadband Multi-Coating for Higher Contrast & Better SNR
- Lightweight CNC Aluminum Construction: Portable Strength Without Compromise
- Dual Focuser Options: AR (Rack and Pinion) / AC (Crayford)
- Multi-Scenario Expansion: Guiding, Deep-Sky, Visual Observation
4-Element PAPO Optical Design with Built-in Field Flattener
The GS-100AR/AC features an upgraded 4-element, 2-group self-flattening PAPO (Planar Apochromatic) optical design, incorporating a premium ED low-dispersion glass element for superior chromatic correction. Compared with earlier GS series guide scopes, the optimized optical structure significantly reduces purple fringing around bright stars, delivering cleaner and more accurate stellar profiles.
With a well-corrected 1-inch flat image circle, the GS-100 produces:
- Pinpoint stars across the field
- Excellent edge-to-edge sharpness
- Flat-field imaging performance
- Uniform illumination and natural star color
Advanced Multi-Layer Anti-Reflection Coating
Every optical surface in the GS series is treated with multi-layer broadband anti-reflection coatings to maximize light transmission and suppress internal reflections.
Additional stray-light suppression features include:
- Blackened lens edges
- Precision-machined internal anti-reflection threading
- Multi-stage internal light baffling
These combined light-control measures dramatically reduce scattered light interference, resulting in:
- Brighter guide stars
- Improved image contrast
- Cleaner stellar definition
- Excellent guiding sensitivity and signal-to-noise performance
Precision CNC Aluminum Construction
The GS-100AC/AR adopts a newly optimized raised single-ring lightweight mounting design, balancing structural rigidity with reduced overall weight. The elevated ring design also helps prevent interference with surrounding equipment during installation, improving compatibility across diverse astrophotography setups.
Built from CNC-machined aluminum alloy, the GS-100 offers:
- Excellent structural strength
- Lightweight portability
- Precision mechanical stability
The anodized finish provides enhanced resistance to wear and corrosion, while the fine matte-textured surface improves grip and handling in cold or humid outdoor environments.
Dual Precision Focuser Options
The GS-100 is available in two precision focusing configurations to suit different imaging preferences.
Smooth, backlash-free focusing for intuitive manual adjustment.
Mechanical geared focusing for highly repeatable fine-focus precision.
Both systems are engineered for fast, accurate focusing during guiding and imaging sessions.
Versatile Expansion for Multiple Astrophotography Applications
The GS-100 is designed as a flexible optical accessory that adapts to a wide range of astronomy equipment.
GS-100 + Guide / Planetary Camera
GS-100 is compatible with 1-inch and smaller guide or planetary cameras, making it ideal for precision autoguiding applications.
GS-100AR + DSO Cooled Camera + Electric Focuser
The rear focuser features a 1.25-inch internal diameter and M42 x 0.75 external thread. This enables direct connection to mainstream cooled astronomy cameras and seamless integration with the ToupTek Astro AAF for autofocus. For optimal performance, pairing with sensors up to 1 inch is recommended.
GS-100 + AE676C Multi-Purpose Astronomy Camera
Using an M42 adapter, the GS-100 can be paired with the AE676C all-in-one astronomy camera to create a lightweight, beginner-friendly wide-field deep-sky imaging system. This setup is ideal for portable astrophotography, travel imaging, and entry-level deep-sky imaging.
GS-100 + Filter / Filter Wheel
The front of the GS-100 features a standard M48 × 0.75 thread, allowing direct attachment of 2-inch filters for monochrome or color imaging. For multi-filter workflows, filter drawers and filter wheels can be mounted directly using an M54-to-M48 adapter. For visible-light imaging or guiding, using an IR-CUT filter or cameras with infrared-blocking protective glass is recommended for optimal image quality.
Flexible Mounting Interfaces
The included mini dovetail base features multiple M6 threaded mounting points and one 3/8"-16 tripod thread. This enables fast and secure mounting to tripods, Vixen-style dovetail systems and custom astrophotography rigs.
