Efficient and Stable Cooling

During long exposures in astrophotography, sensor temperature can rise, leading to decreased image quality or the appearance of noise. The stability of a camera's cooling system is a top concern for photographers. Equipped with a second-generation TEC cooling system, the ATR3CMOS08300KPA can maintain a temperature difference of up to 47 degrees Celsius between the sensor and ambient temperature, reducing thermal noise accumulated during long exposures. Whether capturing high dynamic range targets or conducting extended exposure shots, it excels in both scenarios.
The camera's sensor compartment houses a four-level anti-Dew heating, which can be adjusted according to environmental conditions, preventing moisture from condensing in critical imaging areas.

High Resolution Even with a Small Format

The ATR3CMOS08300KPA features the SONY IMX585 color sensor with a pixel size of 2.9μm. While the 1/1.2-inch format may not be considered large, its resolution of 3840x2160 ensures clear and detailed image output, with a high-speed mode capable of delivering 47 frames per second. Moreover, cooling cameras with small formats typically support telescopes of various apertures and focal lengths, requiring lower demands on the primary mirror aperture and enabling shooting with smaller diameter primary mirrors. This allows entry-level and mid-level photographers to choose more economical telescopes for astrophotography, reducing entry costs.

No amp-glow

Amp-glow is a common issue with some sensors during long exposures and high-gain shooting, with glow areas shining like supernovae in the dark field of long exposures. It not only significantly reduces the signal-to-noise ratio in affected areas but also frustrates enthusiasts during post-processing, as it is like a ghost, difficult to remove perfectly. However, the IMX585 sensor with zero-glow technology exhibits no visible glow in dark-field long exposures, ensuring clear and pure images.

STARVIS 2 and Back-Illuminated Sensors

The ATR3CMOS08300KPA employs STARVIS 2 technology and back-illuminated sensors, further enhancing pixel sensitivity and high dynamic range performance compared to the same series with STARVIS. It optimizes imaging under low-light conditions, capturing more photons to enhance light utilization efficiency. Even with small pixels, it can reach a full well capacity of 40Ke, effortlessly handling high dynamic range scenes. The back-illuminated sensor structure also reduces scattering and absorption of light passing through the circuit layer, maintaining a high signal-to-noise ratio for shooting in low-light environments.

Low Readout Noise in HCG Mode

High-gain settings in cameras often result in increased readout noise. When the HCG mode of the ATR3CMOS08300KPA is activated, it effectively reduces readout noise while maintaining a dynamic range similar to that of low-gain settings. The readout noise can be as low as 0.5e, while maintaining a dynamic range close to the 12-bit level. Even in low-light conditions or when facing high dynamic scenes shooting challenges, the ATR3CMOS08300KPA presents images with balanced brightness and rich details.

16bit ADC in HDR Mode

What sets the ATR3CMOS08300KPA apart is its ability to achieve a bit depth equivalent to 16bit ADC when HDR mode is enabled. This means the camera can capture subtle changes in light with higher precision and a broader range of colors. High-contrast images will exhibit smoother and more natural transitions. With HDR mode providing more image information, it also offers greater flexibility in post-processing.
